Natural Areas Art Fundraiser
Dane County Parks manages over 17,000 acres of habitat comprised of prairie, oak savanna, woodlands, and wetlands that support thousands of species of wildlife, many of which have become threatened or endangered with extinction. The Natural Areas Program maintains and restores these habitats and encourages children and adults to explore and appreciate these areas.
Dane County Parks is raising money for this important program. With each $20 donation, you can request a sticker, magnet or window cling featuring winning artwork from the contest. All funds raised will be used to support land management in Dane County Natural Areas, including, prairie plantings, staff support, and restoration efforts. Conservation Art Contest
The Conservation Art Contest is a competition, fundraiser, and scholarship for youth in grades six through twelve. It is a fun and interactive way to teach students about the many values of our natural areas, the challenges they face, and the habitat they provide for countless creatures. The top three contest winners will receive a $500 scholarship award for their artwork depicting a threatened or endangered species in Wisconsin. The top twelve pieces will remain on display for recognition at the Lussier Family Heritage Center.
First place artwork was turned into stickers, window clings, and magnets that you can request as a thank you when you donate online Funds will be used to help maintain and enhance Dane County Parks natural areas.
Winning Artwork
The top three winners received a $500 scholarship to support their future education. The first through third place winners will have their artwork printed on fundraising materials to help Dane County Parks raise money to support the Natural Areas Program.
We want to take a moment to thank our dedicated judges, Adrienne Rich (Chasen Art Museum), Mitch Bergeson (Fish & Wildlife Service), and Stefanie Brouwer (Dane County Park Commission), who came out to judge the artwork despite the cancellation.
Congratulations to all and a huge thank you to every single person who participated in the inaugural year of our Conservation Art Contest! All art pieces will be displayed at the Lussier Family Heritage Center beginning summer 2020 until next year’s art contest.
